c6 auto thinks its in reverse
I manually moved the shift cable with gear shift in Park and reverse lights stayed on.
All the electrical works.
This is my first time posting. Appreciate any guidance. I've been a vette owner for 20 years. This is a new 2007 C6 for me.
Thanks in advance. I'm not sure how I'll get notified. My email is rkahn@fpg-usa.com I'm in Homestead, Florida 33035

Second see if your battery is still OK. Putting a meter across the terminals will not load test the battery to see if it has any life. Assuming you have a new battery make sure it is good. Did you disconnect the old battery when you installed the new one? If you kept a charger on the battery leads while you were changing batteries remove the + cable and let the computers reset. See if that makes a difference. You will have to re-index the windows.
Batter indicator on dash says between 12.1 and 11.6. I have a 10amp charge on the batter as I mess with it. I tried 50 amp charge to, because I read somewhere that the starter has to have 12.6amps to start. But I wasn't able to get it up past 12.1. I have it charging at 10 amps deep cycle now over night and will see in morning if it goes higher.
I may have created another problem inadvertently. When I removed the 4 shifter housing nuts and removed the shifter, on replacing it I felt the the rigid end of the shifter cable snap out of it's bracket. I could see the cable when I slid the plastic housing forward. I was unable to get the end of the cable back on the shifter tip where it sat originally. I was trying to do this in park. I might have had better luck in Drive or Neutral.
I now looked in my service manual and see there is a clip that holds it, so I suppose I will have to take it all apart and reinstall the plastic housing into that bracket, hoping it allows that.
What I was wondering is, I didn't see a clip or anything at the end of the shift lever where the cable sits. Now I'm thinking the bracket keeps it rigid and that's how it stays on. I'm thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to twist tie it on when I get back in there.
Any thoughts on this? I still cannot get the vehicle to start when I press the brake and the green button.
Another thing. My back up lights are on. I'm wondering if car "thinks" its in reverse or they are supposed to be on in this situation.
I'm very happy to have found this resource. I previously had a 1959 for nearly 20 years. I did a ground up restoration on it. I sold it in 2003 for a down payment on our house. Now that the kids are driving I don't need a 4 door and am back to the vette. I suppose I have a learning curve here. I've taken apart and put several cars back together over the years, so I feel up to the challenge.
Thanks!
