I have an 06 vert and I love to drive the car. It's pure pleasure! I got to wondering about it's performance compared to other cars on the road. Of all cars where would you rate the c6. Top 1 per cent? Higher? Top .01 percent? I'm talking all cars on the road not just performance cars. Just food for thought!
Not sure your criteria is clear enough. "All cars on the road" would include a Buick Roadmaster, Caprice Wagon, a 1962 Ford F100, etc. If you are talking about all comparable year models ('05 to '13), it would likely be in the top 1% for both 0-60, and 1/4 mile e.t., I am guessing. Would like to hear others opinions....
When it came out it was close to supercar status. Still one of the fastest production cars made. The C7 has about the same top end and accelerates just slightly faster.

I've typically heard folk rate the C6 performance in the top 1 percent, and if you supercharge or turbo charge it, better shocks, tires, and so one you should be in the top .1%. Few cars make 400 HP, and way fewer make over 600 HP.
But this is so subjective, it it hard to put an exact percentage on, due to so many variations of the C6 too. LS2, LS3, LS7, LS9, verts, coupes, etc.
I was talking all cars on the road. When I drive down the interstate, or any road, I wonder how many of the cars I meet have better performance? I guess, you might say, when I drive my Vet I just feel superior! To other cars that is! It's just part of the wonderful corvette experience!

I suppose a feeling of superiority is warranted. Satisfaction is the feeling I get. Few cars on the road, very few, could up and just run away from a C6. These would be in the exotic car categories though that cost far more than our Chevys. There's only a handful or so that can 'stay' with one as well. It's a 12 second quarter miler that has a top end of 175+. And it's 'just' a Chevy! That fact alone is what makes me feel satisfied or, superior, if you will. Except for the better time to speed factor, I feel the same way on my Hayabusa. It has nine second quarter mile times with a similar top end (unrestricted). Very very few bikes or any other vehicles can match that although bikes are getting not so much faster these days but much quicker to speed than they used to be. Like the Hayabusa, our C6s are planted at speed, very very stable. I think that's what makes me feel good when I'm driving at speed. Cross NV or UT at a buck forty and you'll see what I mean. The Corvette may be a cheap car compared to some but figuring in the price to speed ratio, it just might be the true king of the road!
When we say "top 1%", that means that the C6 is the highest performing car in every group of 100 cars. Sit on a crowded freeway and you can easily see 100 cars around you...how many are higher performance. Most are cars like Camrys, Accords and Sentras, not to mention the trucks. I would bet that the number is more like .1% or even better. We all tend to notice the one performance car that drives by, but we certainly do not notice the 100 or more regular cars that drive by.
I find that cars will pull up beside me and then roar off! Guess they feel good that they blew a corvette away! I like what a previous poster said, you know you can best almost all cars on the road, but you don't need to prove it!

I can almost hear the conversation in those cars: "Honey, the guy in the Vette doesn't even realize he's in a race"
