I have replaced the alternator with a ULTRA brand alternator from O'Reillys...the battery was purchased brand new from the dealer a month ago when I replaced the starter. The SERVICE CHARGING SYSTEM message still displaces and the Voltage guage does not go over 13....What could still be the problem?

I had the same problem. i tried a lot of things and could not come up with an exact solution. I changed my battery and went back to a gm alternator. It solved the problem for a while then mine also came back with service charging system. I dont have an answer for you but I am posting because I had the same problem and did not find a solution.

Let me know if you find an answer...trying not to go to the dealership
The alternator positive wire goes to the starter solenoid, there is a bus bar through the starter solenoid to another cable terminal, and off the second terminal, that cable leads to the positive battery terminal.
The negivite wire off the battery goes to a ground screw on the side of the engine block just above the starter.
There is another positive wire off the battery that goes to the engine bay fuse block.
So for starters, these need to be checked to make sure that they are clean, the terminals not broken, and the bolts/nuts tight.
As for the OEM valeo alternator most of the time the OEM's are replaced is not due to the brushes/ voltage regulator worn out, but the coil wires broken loose in the alternator instead. Hence once the coil wires break loose, rebuilding the alternator is not going to fix it and it will still put out low voltage/amperage.
So on that note, once you have checked the charging wires to make sure that all their connection are clean and tight, have the new alternator replaced with an another unit (and don't be surprised if the replacement rebuilt unit has the same problem as well).
