2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (performance mods)
C4 of Year Winner (performance mods) 2019
162mph
Just did my first 1/2 mile standing start event yesterday with WannaGoFast at their Texas event. My fastest speed of the day was 162.2MPH, and all my runs were very consistent, with none lower than 161, and another 162 to validate the first one. Strip was very dusty and it was hard to hook up (actually had best runs starting in 2nd, but part of that is the really steep GS gearing), and I was having to shift to 5th before the traps, so I think I was probably leaving around 5MPH on the table. Definitely a lot of fun!
Car specs:
2013 Grand Sport M6
Only mods are: A&A V3 Si with 3.6" pulley, dual nozzle meth, speed density tune, & LS7 exhaust manifolds with gutted cats.
I am going to Ocala FL where the next wannagofast meet is, I have 2011 grand sport, manual trans with cam & LG long tubes, just interested in your RWHP to run 162 mph. Tks

672RWHP. However if your cam will support a significantly higher rev limit, it will help you. Had a friend with a C6Z running, and with only 535RWHP, he was able to pull 159MPH due to being able to pull 4th gear through the traps.
Tks for the info. It is vengeance racing custom grind, makes power up to 6600 rpm, 475 RWHP, I was hoping for 145. Cam is KAOTIK 235/243 .621/.624 113+2. running Michelin super sports non run flats & Bilsteins sports shocks, a major up grade. Looking forward to see what she does!

See you there!
Like I posted in your other thread, similar power (640 mustang dyno) and I hit 162 in a non-GS model. I'm hoping a stickier tire gets me a little more acceleration at the start.
Also, in the video, did you start the race in second? Seemed really long of a pull for one gear.

Yes, was trying starts in both 1st and 2nd. The strip was too dusty to really get a decent launch in 1st, so I ended up doing most runs starting in 2nd. The M6 GS gearing is honestly too steep for a high HP car, and 2nd is actually pretty close to what the C6 ZR1 1st is. I think if I'd done that the first run of the day (when it was coolest), I may have been able to pick up a couple more MPH.
