Hi all, I needed to run up to the local hardware store to pick up some more lights for the Christmas tree. It's only 5 miles up the road so I thought I get in the Corvette and take a little cruise up there . Fortunately I was only doing 50 miles an hour when two deer jumped out in front of me. I pressed hard on the brakes and turn the wheel to the right just a little bit. And I took out the legs, right at the knees, of the second deer.
He slid across my hood, off my fender, across the road, landed in the grass, got up and ran away. I am mediately pulled over to the side of the road, got out and inspected the front of the car. I could not find any damage at all ! I got the car home into the garage and inspected closely never to find one bit of damage !
I was very relieved and cannot believe I am so lucky, as it was this time last year when I hit a deer in my wife's Cadillac SRX and was in the body shop for over three weeks .
No damage is pretty amazing. I hit one (it actually jumped into my right front fender, then wiped down the entire side) in the middle 90s in my Mitsubishi 3000 GT and it did about $4500 in damage. The deer was being chased by several dogs and I happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was doing about 60 at the time and just saw a brown blur. The first thought that crossed my mind was that I'd hit a large cardboard box ... but then I stopped the car and got out and looked.
You were lucky indeed. Just before Thanksgiving, my buddy was driving his CTS (that he bought from me) to Michigan to see his family. He hit a deer on the interstate at 70+. Every airbag in the car went off. Car was totaled! He and his GF were unscathed. Got a rental and continued his journey.
The beauty of a plastic car! It does not ding and apparently it us also deer proof of speeds up to 50. Good to know! If this was a steel car you would have definitely suffered damage. I glad you and tour baby is ok.
I've had a small deer (yearling) run into the driver door. Expecting to see a hole in the side of the car, there was no damage! If it had been metal I'm sure it would have left a dent. The funny thing was he was standing in the same spot on the side of the road when I came home from work. He stayed there that time.
My dad hit a deer in his 15' Z51 coupe a couple weeks ago while we were driving the car to FL. He was not so lucky as the OP. Kinda of a glancing blow on the right side. Impact around 50 mph. Trashed the bumper cover, right front corner marker light, and the right fender was cracked in several places. I was figuring at least $3k.

I hit a deer head on in a old Pickup. It was a major hit and he went under the truck in the process. I stopped and couldn't find the deer. It was dark so didn't do much searching off the road. Saw a deer carcass a couple miles away from the accident and wondered if it had made it that far on adrenaline?
