hey guys,
looking to pick up a 08-10 z06.
most of my local banks won't finance a vehicle that old. If i was wanting to purchase from private party ( say from someone on here. )
where is the best place to finance from? anywhere do 72months on a 2008-10 z06?
You're either young or credit isn't high enough for a loan. I have zero credit but I did down payment 2/3 the price to get loan. So you either down big or get someone with good credit to cosign.
im 32. credit is decent. 700 last time i checked.
i just didn't know if banks would do 72mo on a 2008 year car.

Banks don't like financing used cars but credit unions do. Join one, deposit some cash and see if they'll loan you the money. With a credit score as high as 700 and if the car is within proper blue book prices and especially if you have a down payment, it should work. Their rates won't be as high as other credit sources either.
I found these folks - Inova FCU. They re-fied my '07 at a decent rate, then when that car was totaled 2 months later, they helped me with an '08 for 72 months from a private seller. The newer the car the better the rate. I had my eye on an '02 Aston Martin which they approved, but I changed my mind. I only had to pay a $5.00 membership fee. Try Ashley - ashleyw@inovafcu.org, and see what they can do.
Just a FYI, but the upkeep expense on a used Vet is not cheap (why most will sell them before the warranty runs out). When you do need to resolve something on the vet, normal repair costs are in the thousands of dollars instead.
I bring this up, since if money is tight to just afford the payments on the car to begin with, then between insurance and upkeep expenses, you may not be able to afford the vet after all instead.

Upkeep on a used Vette is not cheap? You got this forum to answer any maintenance or repair issues and if you can turn a wrench and have some mechanical know how, a Corvette is cheaper to maintain than the German brands and just about anything in its class. I have no concerns about owning without warranty coverage as I can actually work on this car. If there is something I can't do, then it goes to Abel Chevrolet where it's a given the job will be done right and I won't get shafted.
Insurance costs are low and I bet most people sell their vettes not because the warranty is about to run out but because they don't need the car or cuz they are bored with it.
Chrisprater: Credit Unions are pretty good on used car loans.

I financed through USAA for 72 months. APR is 2.99%
I always use my credit union or USAA to finance any of my toys. I stay away from the big banks like BOA, ect. Rates are always better through my local credit union, USAA was pretty close in APR to what the credit union could offer, I went with them for the vette since my home owners ins, and car ins is through them.
Credit Unions are the only way to go. They offered 60 months on the 05 Vette that I bought last year. Financed for 36 months at 1.69%. Your credit score will have a lot to do with it. Mines 814.
Try Capitol One Auto Finance. If the car is within 7 model years, they wii finance for 5 years, at a decent rate, with no money down. I believe they will go 90 percent of retail book, up to 30 K, but it has to be a dealer.
My credit union and all others I checked, will currently finance any used car that is 2008 and newer at the 2.5-3% rate, and up to 84 months. They will finance older vehicles, but the rate is higher. I limited my search to Corvettes that were at least an 2008. I bought the newest Corvette I could find that had the mileage, options, and price I wanted to pay. I just bought a 2012 GS Coupe.

I'd have to disagree about the upkeep expense. I have always DD my Corvettes, and the only thing more expensive about them is the tires (and the gas -- if you are comparing it to some commuter Honda/Toyota). I always use synthetic oil in all my cars, so thats not strictly a "Vette" expense for me either.
But I would have to agree about the finances -- if money is really tight, there are much cheaper cars to get you from A to B until you're of more sufficient means.
