Herro peoples, so some squeaking started this morning. I am sure this has been discussed in a thread somewhere here. It sounds like it is coming from around the transmission area. I have not had the chance to start taking things apart. Any ideas what it may be? Below is a link to the video of the sound. Thankz
I suggest getting the car in the air so you can get under and close up. Possibly the torque tube.
If you put the clutch in and put it in gear, without moving, any change?
Thanks for replying. In neutral and drive it is squeaking. It only seems to stop when in 5th gear, but the wind and highway noise was probably too loud for me to hear it. It also seems to not effect the performance either. Feels and drives normal, yet continues that sound. Now the squeak does intensify when it revs up or begins moving. Just a few things I noticed taking it for another test just now. It is an automatic. A6
Guessing torque tube bearing or driveshaft guibos. I think the alternating pitch of the squeak would be indicative of the guibos though.
Sounds painful. Is it possible for it to come and go frequently? I am guessing that would mean it is going bad. I was going to take it to a shop for a closer examination but it stopped as I left the house.
New update: This only seems to occur during 60ish and below temperatures with increased humidity levels. Mostly mornings. Today has been above 70F and not a single chirp. I do not know if this will present a more clear issue. Will keep posted.

Simple. Belt noise.
You owe me 25 cents as it took only 10 seconds to watch your video and reply to this tread.

Haha.. It is definitely coming from right above the exhaust pipes and a little in front of the tranny area. Do you think the balancer could echo all the way to the rear of the car though? It was squeaking a tiny bit a while back but seemed to stop. The belt is newish. But I will get a recording of the bay area next time it starts squeaking again. I will give you 50 cents if it turns out being the belt or anything to do with the belt though lol
Sounds like deal! On the video it was hard to ascertain where the sound was coming from but it sounded much like a noise you would get from one of the belts, tensioners or the pulleys reflecting off the ground. And lets hope it is that easy.
my 07 c6 sounds exactly like yours. What did you finally do to fix it?
respectfully,
Jorge

The symptoms you are describing would have nothing to do with the weather you are describing. It sounded a bit to me like light metal vibrating, such as exhaust hangers, etc. You really need to get it in the air where you can determine the precise location, which will probably tell you the precise cause.
