C4 member here. I have owned a C4 for 13 years now and am looking to upgrade to a 2006 vert. Daytona Sunset Orange(Yellow would be my first choice - lol) Automatic with paddle shift, heated seats, power top, navigation, adjustable suspension. My question is there anything special to look for in a C6 that would be different from my C4. Oh yea the car has just under 20K on the clock. Thank you for opinions and advise. SAVE THE WAVE
I have an '06 DSOM but it's not a vert. I love it! A couple things come to mind regarding an '06. Check to make sure the harmonic balancer is not wobbling. Also, the early A6 transmissions would do well by getting a tune update, makes a world of difference in shifting and drivability. Other than that just go for as low mileage as you can in your budget and know what you're buying, ie: maintenance records, ownership etc. Good luck!
I should add that according to carfax it has been serviced regularly it just passed emissions testing, but the serpentine belt was replace this past May. Is that unusual with this low of mileage or does it have something to do with as ssmike56 stated the harmonic balancer may have an issue? Thanks again.

The LS3/LS2 of all years is somewhat subject to the harmonic balancer going out. If they replaced the serpentine belt it could have been squeking because the harmonic balancer is bad/wobbling. Check that out.

Take a look at the harmonic balancer while the engine is idling, it should not have any wobble. The tell tale sign of a problem is a squeaky belt so if has been replaced I'd check it out.
Take a good look at the shocks, check for leaks. The F55 is expensive to replace. I would check maintenance records , and would change all the fluids as needed. Good luck with your purchase.
Also there was a recall on early 2005, 2006 for a steering column problem, on tilt tele a wire could be cut with use.
