Just joined. Loving my (new to me) 2011 stock coupe. Man, what a car. Problem is, if I stomp on it the rear goes sideways. Normal even when Traction Control is working?
Traction control limits wheel spin. Active handling tries to keep the car going in a straight line. But with as much HP being generated there is only so much these two can control.

Yes, and if it's cold out were you are, it's no problem lighting them up some. Traction control allows for a certain amount of spin by design.

Thanks. i'll get the hang of it before too long. Obviously can't just "floor it" from the get go!

Thanks. I can't detect that the car is doing anything other than just trying to put all the power to the ground and the rear tires just aren't wide enough to handle it.

What are the tires on the car now?
There are some really great tires that offer nice traction, but at a cost.
Again, if your at a colder climate, it's not going to matter too much what tire you use. Do warm those babies up some, before turning on the heat.

The tires are Michelin run flats with what appears to be about 1/2 their tread and the temp around here has been it the 40-60 range. I am just gonna have to ease into extreme acceleration.
The Michelin run-flats could be PS2 ZPs, which is a summer performance tire. Definitely loses some traction as temps. go below 50*F...
and you said the tires are already half-worn. Alternatively, they could be the Michelin A/S ZPs...

Just looked and they say "Pilot Super Sport". I was thinking half the tread left was a good thing. You are saying they have lost a meaningful amount of their gripping ability?

In the summer my car will light them and also snap your neck into second all while being under some semblance of control but in the winter ( well as cold as it gets in Georgia, that we call winter ) my car is dangerous
Just yesterday it was 34 degrees in the AM and I pulled out into a line of traffic , I should have waited but I did not , knowing that I pissed the guy off behind me I laid on the gas pedal a little to much and almost found myself out of control
I have brand new Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the car , in the summer they stick like glue in the winter .....

Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZPs are the replacement for the PS2 ZPs...an improved tire model...released with the 2014 C7. Half the tread remaining is fine, but obviously not as grippy as new..plus the effect of many heat cycles. My sense is the combination of power plus colder temps is giving you the tire/car behavior you are experiencing when mashing the throttle !

Half the tread life is fine .
They are not an all weather tire , they are strictly a summer tire . So when it's cold out , they will loose grip

Thanks! This morning I increased the rate of acceleration more slowly but that last little stab to the floor still spun them a little bit. Actually quite fun as long as in control!
