Just my .02 - My 06 had it on when I bought it. It goes half way up the hood. If it were up to me, I would not have it on there at all. It scratches too easily, and you always have a thin line of wax where it stops, unless you use a toothbrush, or something to clean it up after you wax the car. (Which, by the way, leaves scratches in it )
Plus, once you get a rock chip that goes all the way through it, it's like a cancer, and keep growing.
Expel Ultimate nose/front end and 18" up hood and across the fenders, plus mirrors, rockers and a few other spots. One year now and it looks great. It is self healing too.
All I know is that on my last 3 daily drivers, the major stone chips I got on my hood were way up there. Surprisingly high.
Hey,I just use a blk carbon fiber pattern old school leather bra currently and nothing will penetrate that easily. It won't be on forever but I sort of like the look against the Torch Red and black wheels.
I had my car wrapped from the fender/door seams forward...all surfaces are covered, lights and all. I also did the rockers, a strip across the bottom of the doors, the door latch pockets, the mirrors and the front of the quarter panels. Xpel. Obviously my advice is to do the full hood. In retrospect, the only thing I would have done differently is I should have covered the painted area of the hatch. The scratches on the matte CE stripes back there looks like crap.

I also tried the Cleartastic applied it myself on the areas just behind the door worked out well. Although I would not have the patience to do that work full time!!
Go halfway up the hood and you'll be kicking yourself when that one rock misses your clear bra and hits the paint! Go all the way up it's totally worth it, and all lines are hidden (if the installer is good).
Treat the clear bra gently like your paint and it won't scratch or swirl.

I did half the hood...well, 3 yrs later stone chip pax side 11 inches past the bra..Murphy's law. But well worth the money. Dr Chip repair worked wonders also..

What I have for the last 2 years on my 2010. Can't beat it.
