Default Headers/Magnaflow Catback

Installing headers with the cat back and am concerned that it will be to loud. Any help on what to expect? The Magnaflow mufflers are supposed to be mild.

Lots of drone at 1600 rpm. Got rid of mine. I would look at Corsa.

Do you have factory manifolds, or headers? OP wants to make sure he will not be droned out by installing headers.

Drone is typically common when adding headers. That's what I've seen in all the header installations I've dealt with. Do let us know how it turns out!

Are you talking about all exhausts?

We have members here that have success with Corsa sports, and Borla touring and S-type II's with headers and no drone.

Even without headers there are only a few systems that are loud and do not drone on the C6. So not droning with headers (They really wake up any exhaust.) I agree is difficult is difficult on these cars.

I'm saying if you currently run a stock manifold and swap out for an aftermarket header you typically will see an increase in engine sound and drone regardless of what muffler setup you have. A header system will usually upset the equilibrium designed in the factory system to minimize drone in an effort to increase flow & horsepower.

Some muffler systems are better at minimizing drone than others. Corsa & borla touring are well designed to keep drone levels down.

Also keep in mind drone is a verrrrrry subjective thing. What one person considers as drone is music to the ears of another person.

I myself really do not understand how anyone can like drone, one person on here says it is the sound power. My friend way back put a pace setter (I did as a real friend tried to talk him out of this.) header and exhaust system on his 4 cylinder ford probe, it droned and sounded awful. There was no power in this car.

You are correct it is subjective, but I believe a few that I believe feel the same way as I do on the subject that have posted their results with headers and the systems I stated.

You truly could end up spending a lot of money on exhaust trying to get the sound you want without drone. I am on my 5th system on this car and for me (Again my opinion.) the new Borla systems are the best.

I have Corsa on my car now that will be removed and thrown in a box since no one wishes to buy it, and go back to Borla.

Yeah DJ I don't get it either. Heavy drone sucks. It ruins the driving experience.

I had bullets on my Z06 set up, after a 3 week business trip Driving a Ford Fiesta for my rental I came home excited to drive my car. The drone totally ruined it for me, took that exhaust off the next day.

The right exhaust that puts a smile on your face when you hit that throttle is a beautiful thing.

I have the magnaflows and corsa xtremes. Headers and catless xpipe and the magnaflows have just a hair of drone down low but after that they are very quiet. The corsa's are just loud in general. Corsa sports are the good medium.

How is the sound out the exhaust on the magnaflow, and do you know the part # of your system?

The extremes I believe would be very loud with headers, I would only recommend with factory, or shorty headers if drone is a concern.

Thanks for posting.

Magnaflow on a C6 is too quiet IMO. You'll be fine if you don't want loud.

Everyone's ears hear certain tones differently. So one persons drone is non existent to another persons. I found this out with my home theater, subwoofer output was too much for some friends while not effecting me. That said, anytime you change the factory exhaust, especially with headers, you take a chance.
