Default First Corvette questions

Closed the deal on my First 2009 C6 Corvette before the new year, Im coming from a 6 year background of turbo platform subarus..old build
thread from my previous weekend toy/ track toy http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2717059

Huge change for me but finally at a point where I was able to afford the Corvette,Since its in the middle of winter here in MI this will be my Summer fun car as well as track car Replacing my old Track Car. I ended up buying a 2009 Arctic White C6 1LT 6mt. Car has 60k miles on it at the moment.

Looking for all Must knows for 08 plus base model cars, Cars is 100% bone stock.
Ls3 harmonic balancer issue? Maintience items that should be addresed at 60k +?

Im excited to start on a complete new platform of a car and a new community. Cheers!

Congrats Very nice looking C6.
At 60K miles, I would think the Harmonic balancer should be OK.
I have a 2006 with 75K miles, and no issues with the wobbly Harmonic balancer.
This issue did not afflict all the C6's. Some went bad on cars that were babied, others on cars that were run hard. It was hit and miss. If yours is not wobbling or making a squeaking noise, then it should be fine.
Besides regular maintenance like all cars, oil, tires, shocks, brakes, etc. no special things have to be done to the C6. You may want to change the clutch fluid if it looks dirty.
Just look at the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual. If it did not come with one, you can get one from the C6 FAQ section (link).
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...questions.html

The only extra maintenance I had to do on mine was replace a water pump at 30K miles. It had a leaking seal.

The LS2 and LS3 drive train is pretty bullet proof.

Enjoy your toy

Paul (LV2TOUR) is good, Paul is wise......Might I suggest a battery tender for those cold, snowy days in Michigan when you won't be driving the car at least some ever two weeks. You'll be glad you did.

Congrats on your first, and I'm sure what won't be your last. A Vette is my genetic defect, I must have one in the garage. Enjoy, and don't forget to wave.

See if this helps until you get a chance to look at the owner's manual.

This page is from the 2009 owner's manual.

Hey, congratulations on your acquisition of an '09 1LT. Great looking car. I bought mine in April and have never regretted it. I wish you as much satisfaction and fun as I have had with mine so far.

I would change out all the fluids if you don't have good maintenance records. Your car is at that age and mileage when anti- freeze , brake fluid etc are due to be changed. As far as routine maintenance do a Search on Ranger Method to keep the clutch fluid clean, especially if your car is going to the track. I normally do mine twice a year and all is good. As far as drama….all forums have "subjects" that set someone off lol. Welcome and happy motoring , feel free to ask anything as most of the guys are very helpful.

When filling up with gas, to avoid the pump shutting off every few seconds, put the nozzle in 180 degrees upside down. When it shuts off you are full and good to go.

I believe this is a connector under the seat (passenger seat)? I may be way off but I thought I've seen a thread on this.

Great looking car by the way.

Congrats on your new C6.

Make sure that you read the Owners Manual and then read it again. Also pay attention to the section on the handles for opening the door from the inside when the battery is dead.

I too have an '09 1LT, and have had no problems at all with it. It has some factory options though ... HUD, Z51 ... so it's really a 1LT+ I suppose.

But I have changed out the stereo with new speakers and an amp. Sounds a hundred times better than stock.

And also have installed sound insulation, which makes it somewhat quieter, but not Lexus-quiet.

Congrats on your new toy, and be careful but enjoy. And welcome to the forum.

Congrats on a beautiful car, and welcome to the forum. Lot's of folks have a ton of miles on their C6's with no issues. And I second the guy who said to really read the manual and understand all the cool things that are included in your car. I have a friend who has had a C6 since 2008 and did not know he could customize his DIC message at startup for example. Learn how to get in and out of the car if the battery goes dead. Learn how the FOBs work, and how to program them. Then just drive it, maintain it, and enjoy it.

Garry

All good advice here.. Yes, read the manual (all of it).. Yes, change all the fluids if you are concerned (diff, tranny, engine oil, brake and clutch).. check the tire and brake wear.. then, hunker down for the winter and get ready for a fun spring!!! Congratulations and welcome to the club!!
