Almost every car made uses a fob to lock and unlock the doors nowadays. A Corvette is not different than any other car as far as a thief using a mimicking device to get into a car
I don't worry about it. Mine spends most of its life in my garage or on a secured army base. I just try to watch where I leave it, especially if I can't see it. I do drive it to stores, but I'm usually not gone long.
The older Vette before electronic locks were not that hard to get into with a slim jim. I never tried with a newer one, as we werent allowed to open cars anymore as people would complain that the locks didnt work as the clips would falloff the bars or the electrics got messed up. I drive its insured and if something happens oh well insurance will fix it
To break into as in stealing the car or just breaking into as in stealing what's inside the car? Because the typical hood-rat is just going to smash a window if they want to steal something they see inside like a purse or something of value.
As far as someone breaking into the car and somehow cheating the security system to start up and drive off, I've never been concerned about.
A friend of mine some years ago had a brand new Ford F-150 that he would just park in front of his house at night. No garage. Someone pulled up in the middle of the night and simply carried his truck off with a tow-truck and stole it that way. So that's what I've been concerned about when it comes to stealing....someone pulling up with a tow-truck and just taking off with the corvette. Quick, easy, and even with people around...they think maybe someone is just having car problems and having their vette towed. If I were into stealing cars, I would just use a tow truck.
Other than having a sophisticated electronic device to mimic your FOB, or a crowbar, how safe is a Corvette from being broken into?
Breaking in is easy. Just smash a window. Question is - will that set off your alarm? The alarm on my GS doesn't seem very sensitive to vibration, as would be caused by breaking a window. (I've shaken the car, but obviously don't want to break a window)
I believe there's minimal risk that someone would then be able to drive away. However, I believe a "Smash & Grab" or vandalism is more of a risk.
I've had a rear window broken out in a GM SUV. Didn't set off the alarm. Fortunately only vandalism. I have since had sensitive vibration monitors added the the SUV security system.
The key is to reduce the risk by limiting parking outside unattended.
Hope this helps.

There is no shock or motion sensor in C6 factory alarm.
I had a Revelco system on my truck. (http://www.ravelco.com/) It gets rewired and you have a plug in gadget that when removed, the vehicle can't start. Never been defeated. Thinking about getting one.

I was the operations manager for a large towing company for awhile and, with tools that can be purchased online or through other sources, they can be broken into fairly easily with little to no visible damage. Also, as other's have said, windows can be easily broken. As far as the alarm goes; 'professional' car thieves will have it disabled in seconds. Bottom line, if someone want's your car or what's inside, they'll get it.

If you want to test it, then lay a $100 bill on the console while parked in a Walmart parking lot near the front door. If the money is gone and the windows aren't broken, it must be easy, since no one noticed anything unusual.
