Just bought a 2012 c6 and am trying to determine how old the battery is. Anybody know how to determine the age. 85H7YR is on the top. Is that a date code? Thanks in advance for any help.
Here is what I found about codes on AC Delco batteries.
The warranty date code is located on the top label of the battery. The first character is either a P or S. The next two digits determine the month, the third digit is year and the fourth digit indicates the manufacturing plant. For example, P 098N means the battery was made in September 2008.

Thanks for the info. I did figure out that 85H7YR is a part number not a date code. I could not find a date code anywhere. Maybe the label with the date code fell off. Thanks for the help
Some batteries have a separate sticker with the date hole punched on it ... the bad thing is these stickers come dislodged quite easily ... especially if they are hit with some engine dressing .

Have the battery load tested. If it passes, who cares how old it is as long as it works well.
If the vehicle is a 2012 and the battery is original, that would put it at 3 year old at best. Without knowing the history, or you might, I would keep an eye on it.
Our cars are notorious for 'battery' issues.
