Today I drove on a road that is being repaved. Actually prepped for repaving I guess, since they have 'stripped' the old asphalt off of the top and will pave tonight.
At any rate, a lot of the debris has gotten on my C6. Immediately upon returning home I washed the car. Most appears to have come off but on the front of the car there is an area that feels like sandpaper that will not wash off. Can't really see it, but feels rough unlike the rest of the car where the wash mitt just glides over.
Any suggestions as to how to get it smooth again?
TIA
Myself I would clean it with 3m product 08987 .
General purpose adhesive cleaner but its also tar remover and the tar sticky stuff is gone in a second or two and wipe off with a rag but put a fresh side of the rag with each wipe. The tar will drip like water with this product but leave your paint alone. I think Amazon has the best price but been quite a while since I needed a refill.
End of problem, period.
Has to make you wonder what is causing it to stick to the paint.
What ever you do I recommend you dont use swirl motions as I did that with what I thought was simple tar. It had grit in it and I had a nasty looking hood when I was done. Made the mistake of using paint thinner. I wonder what a pressure washer might do.
Everyone that uses or suggested clay bar! I am now a believer. It easily removed the gritty material from my car without doing any damage. My car is beautiful again.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I have used a clay bar to remove road grime from my vette. It even worked on removing paint overspray.
