So my battery died and I went in through the hatch and opened the driver's door manually. The window indexed when it opened, but when I went to shut the door, it would not latch so I had to leave it open. The battery was then removed from the car to replace...is it normal for the door to not latch with a dead battery?

The door will not latch due to the window touching the roof, the indexing just dies. It happened to me, I had to leave the door just touching the frame until I got the new battery and replaced it. The latch itself opens and close without power (using the hatch pull string).

The window did index down when I opened it with the lever though

The door will shut with the window fully up...the window just won't seal in its track and will stick out along the roof.. I've had the window frozen in place of the door on really cold mornings.. So the door will latch.

Not sure what was going on then. I even flipped the latch manually, but it was like the sort was hitting a wall when I tried closing it
