Another Diminished Value question
My car is a 2006 MN6 Vert, some genius a couple of weeks ago decided to make a u-turn from the right lane in front of me in the left lane. I almost got away from him but he manged to do $3400 in damage to my right rear quarter. His insurance company is paying, and Its in the body shop of my choice, and is aware that I will put in a DV claim after the repairs are done.. Due to the fact that my car is 10 years old 35,000 miles, what should the DV % be ? I was guessing 10% of resale value.

When I went through that with an SUV I was given the name of a guy who did DV evaluations that you could submit to an insurance company. Basically a retired accident insurance adjuster. Cost me $150, got me $3400. There's my $0.02. Good luck.

Ditto. I spent a little money, used his claim package, and negotiated with the other driver's insurance. They were stonewalling me pre-DVC, gave me his claim figure less $400 post-DVC, plus I asked for the cost of his fee and we split that down the middle.

my personal example
Had a 2007 3LT 6MT with about 25,000 miles; was rear ended at a stoplight and the other driver took off. Damage was light (new rear cap and new exhaust). Traded it in about 3 months/2000 miles later; both dealers I dealt with independently arrived at about a 2K hit (no pun intended). This is in WA state (location might make a difference)
