Default Need info on Steering Wheels

On a 2010 C6 is there any difference between a GM steering wheel for a standard shift and the 6 speed automatic? If I were to buy one can I relocate everything from my existing wheel to the new wheel (phone and radio controls and paddle shift levers)?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, that is not true. I just went through the whole episode myself, and e-mailed Greg at www.autodynamicswest.com to find out for sure.
He assured me that from 2006-2011, the steering wheel backing plate and core are exchangeable between those years.
In 2012-2013, the cores were changed, so only those 2 years are interchangeable with each other.
Here is the e-mail response:
All the C6 wheels are the same from 06-2011 The backs, switches, paddle shifters all can moved to another wheel in those years. Manual and autos use the same core also. Moving the attached items to a new core only takes a few minutes.
The cores are the same from 2012 & 2013, so only those 2 years can be exchanged with each other.
Thanks,
Greg

With that info, I bought a 2009 steering wheel with the manual backing plate. I removed the 2006 auto backing plate from my old wheel, and placed it on the 2009 wheel in a few minutes.

Hope that helps you out.

Thanks, that confirms my understanding. I knew the first response was incorrect, but didn't have the particulars.
