Default key fob question

2009 2lt coupe, both key fobs I received both have an external extra plastic piece that contains a battery and is attached to the fob by a wire and look nothing like the fob in the owners manual, any one have this as well? does the fob also have a battery? bad pic but you get the idea

I am betting that is how the last owner go into his office building.
That is what it looks like to me.

not see any way of getting the fob apart as there are no slots to pry apart with out breaking the fob

Does it have a button on it? Could be wild 2 wild switch.

You pull the silver top off (holds the key), and you will see you can take it a part. That is the only way to take the battery out.

no button smooth the two halves just snap together and contain 2032 battery, so I would assume the fob has a battery as well just can not seem to get it apart with out breaking it.

There are different types of fobs to get you into today's modern office building.
This may not have anything to do with a car.
It could be the fob to drop the gate a Carmax so you can leave a do the test drive...

There is a "sticky" thread at the top of the page all about changing the fob battery.

I agree with the other's that say it could be an 'automatic' office entry fob or it could be an automated gate fob for garage, parking lot or gated community. A friend has a fob similar to that to get into his gated community.

I am guessing you're too old to know what technology is like these days.

Since it is winter right now, be sure to warm up the fob before prying it open...otherwise cracking is very likely. That other fob has nothing to do with a stock C6, it is not a Chevy item.
