I can't believe the process described in the owners manual for programming my opener to the car... I stopped reading because I. Was getting a headache.. Lol... Am I missing something or did GM really complicate the living hell out of that process in the 13 GS?

Did it change? It used to be pretty simple:
1) Put Homelink (or Lear1234567890 or whatever the heck they call it now) into program mode by holding desired button down for X seconds until it blinks.
2) Have a already programmed garage door remote, and press the button on it while holding it close to the homelink and pressing its button as well, until it blinks or something.
3) Press & release the 'learn' button on the garage door motor
4) Press the newly programmed homelink button until garage door opens. (may have to press more than once to sync it up).
Done.
Is it different now? I never had an issue with the above sequence, but maybe I am not remembering it correctly.
just did it a couple of weeks ago. Hold the two outer buttons until it flashes, push the learn button on the opener, and then press the button on the visor that you want to use. Then hit it again to make sure it works. I did mine with the car in the garage.
It's different now. I've never been able to get my 2013 to work with the door opener I put up last year. The long description in the manual does not work, nor does programming from a remote work.
I'm going to try some other things when the weather gets warm enough to be out and work with it.
Some of the overhead door installers have indicated to press the learn button on the opener 1st and press the button to operate the opener 3 times with about a 2 sec. hold on the button each time.
Anyway to program with an older garage door, I do have it programmed into my Wife's trailblazer but been so long since I did that I forgot how I did it
The new program frequencies and protection have been in place in Canada for years on auto garage door openers, and to program an auto remote on any car in most cases, there is a switch or a timed button(usually 30 seconds to accept) on the actual garage door opener motor assembly, that must be pressed before your corvette will read and save YOUR particular frequency.I had to do this for my 2008 Z.
I'm having the same problem. I have the costco direct drive garage door opener and have not been able to program the homelink in my 2007 to work with it.... It kinda pissed me off.

If I remember correctly, my son had both garage openers programed in about 2 minutes on my 2013. No problem with Liftmaster openers.
Yours must be a little older as the newer openers with MyQ-Enabled technology are not compatible with the Lear Car2U in the 2013 Vette, unless you buy a repeater from Lear
Had to purchase a repeater for my 13 OP the Lear systems suck....they will happily sale you a repeater...
What is a "repeater"? Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue. I laughed when i tried it the way 100% of other car makers have it setup and working becuase i thought to myself, leave it to GM to screw up a process this simple...lol. In the 14 it took all of about 10 seconds.

GM went back to the homelink system in 2014.
Make sure its Lear Car2U repeater. I'm just going to stick with my opener clipped to the visor because my wife's car is Homelink. It was easy and quick to program.
I found the people at home link very helpful. They walked me through programming my gate opener and later a new garage opener on the same car. They can tell you if your systems are compatible.
