Default Options Reset

Hi to you all across the pond, hope you can help on what I expect is something I am doing wrong.
Trying to set the lock options on my 2008 C6 vert, to flash the lights and honk when locking and unlocking. No matter what I try just cant get either to work although the car does lock both on the fob or if I set to passive, just that I need to go back to the car without the fob to check its locked OK.
Trying to set with car running, in park, handbrake on, the options come up I select which ones I want but no change, never had this on my other C6 so am I missing something? doing something wrong?

Passive Door Locking: This option allows you to
select whether the doors automatically lock during
normal vehicle exit. When the ignition is turned off and
all doors become closed, the vehicle will determine
how many keyless access transmitters remain in
the vehicle interior. If at least one keyless access
transmitter has been removed from the interior of
the vehicle, the doors will lock after eight seconds.
For example, if there are two keyless access
transmitters in the vehicle and one is removed, the
other will be locked in. The keyless access transmitter
locked in the vehicle can still be used to start the vehicle
or unlock the doors, if needed. A person approaching
the outside of the locked vehicle without an authorized
keyless access transmitter, however, will not be able
to open the door, even with a transmitter in the vehicle.
You may temporarily disable the passive door
locking feature by pressing the door unlock switch for
three seconds on an open door. Passive door locking will
then remain disabled until a door lock switch is pressed or
until the power mode transitions from the off power mode.
Press the OPTION button until PASSIVE DOOR
LOCKING appears on the display, then press the
RESET button to scroll through the following modes:
• OFF (default)
• SILENT
• HORN
If you choose OFF, this option will turn off.
If you choose SILENT, the doors will automatically lock
eight seconds after you turn the ignition off, remove
a keyless access transmitter from the interior of
the vehicle, and close both doors.
If you choose HORN, the doors will automatically lock
and the horn will chirp eight seconds after you turn
the ignition off, remove a keyless access transmitter
from the interior of the vehicle, and close both doors.
If you are parking in a quiet area and do not want
the horn to sound when the doors lock, press the lock
button on the keyless access transmitter immediately
after removing it from the interior and closing the doors.
This will lock the doors and cancel the passive locking
for this ignition cycle.
When the mode you want is selected, press the
OPTION button to set your choice and advance
to the next personal option.

Autolock will not blow the horn AND flash the lights. If you program it for "Silent", it will flash the lights when the lock occurs. That way, you don't have to go back and pull on the door handle without the fob to be sure the door is locked.

There's no auto-unlock in the options, that's automatic if you've got a fob with you when you pull on the door handle.

Save the options you've got set with the button corresponding to the fob number you're using on the door.

Thanks for that, but I understand how to set the options to passive or otherwise and what each should do as I have done it before on my previous C6, but this one although the various options are highlighted the lights will not flash at locking nor will the horn sound, it does not matter whether I have the system set to passive or not.
All a bit confusing!!

Try disconnecting the battery for a few mins. Then use the fob programed to #1slot. Might help. GL

As wayback said try the battery disconnect, but also make sure that you are using Fob #1 or #2 as being originally programmed to the car. Fob 3 and 4 can not be program to do special functions like fob 1 and 2 can do.

Should get an error message if he's trying to use fob #3 or fob #4 to set options.

Fobs are the original 1&2 , do I need to press memory buttons on the doors before or after setting?

Yes.

For active un-locking (pressing the fob button) lights will flash but no honking is available for this function.

No flashing or honking available for passive un-lock (grabbing a door handle with the fob in your pocket).

Ok have tried all variations of setting the options but still no light flashing whatever I do.
Currently I have everything set to the default settings as in the handbook.

Process I am using is in the car, engine running, handbrake on, Auto in Park. Press option button, scroll through various options using reset to move cursor, once complete have tried both pressing memory button on the door and leaving it alone, makes no difference.

I still have no flashing lights, however I have managed to get the horn back pressing lock on the fob within the 5 secs after first press for locking.

Any other ideas?

Thanks Mike.

Time to go to dealer. You should not have to do anything but select your options......door memory button has nothing to do with what you want done.

Don't know why 2 members said it did.

Unfortunately no luxury of knowledgeable dealers over here, now just one authorized dealership in the UK who are fairly new to Corvettes, so probably not as much experience as me, might be worth plugging in to a genuine tec 2 though?

I don't remember doing that either, just let it return to normal.

Post a quick video of exactly what you are doing and maybe one of us will be able to figure it out.

The buttons are also used to set all currently set options for the other fob. Whichever fob you entered the car with, the options are set automatically for it, but if you want those same options for the other fob, press the button numbered for the other fob.

Only for the memory functions like seat, mirrors and radio.

Oh well not the end of the world, guess I can live with it now the horn gives me indication of locking.
I am thinking perhaps the light conversion which needs to be done in the UK has somehow disabled the flashers, no idea who did the conversion so no way of checking but I know some people have had issues as its all a bit complicated.
Thanks for all the replies guys, always good to hear from my American friends

Mike.

Sorry we weren't much help.

It is supposed to save your choices with the options button.

Hope you have some qualified mechanics there.
