Put Vaseline on all the rubber to rejuvenate it.
The lube the front latches.

I have used heat shrink on the pins and it kept the top quiet for about 8 months till it wore out. If I remember I got that fix from this site

I use Einszett Gummi Pflege. Similar to the GM product, but much cheaper. Have never had a noise from my top.

I think vaseline will rot rubber. I used Super Lube 21030 Synthetic Grease (NLGI 2), 3 oz Tube as recommended in a previous thread.

If the tricks in the video do not solve the squeaks, rattles and pops, then as mentioned earlier, shrink wrap the pins with electrical heat shrink and that may solve your issues.

Also, you can put an extra O-Ring(upper) on the post, and maybe even replace the original O-Ring (Lower)

Yea....pretty straight forward on this issue. You'll hit the right idea sooner or later. Good thing is that its such a simple fix that when it starts the noise again that its easy to go back and re-lube it in just a matter of minutes. I must admit though that its refreshing to see that it looks like this post is maybe all of 10 minutes old and no one has chimed in saying that their top has never squeaked and my car has 400,000 plus miles on the odo.......LOL. OOPS....i've done it now !!!!!....

I tried lubricating the rubber and then tried adjusting the hook latch but what finally worked for me was the 3/16" e-clip. If I were the op I would start there. I put the e-clips on a year and a half ago and have not had a peep out of either top.

I used a 5/32" e-clip and that worked OK as well. Probably a bit tighter.
I used all the tricks, lube, shrink wrap, O-Ring, e-clip, adjusted the Rear J-Hook a bit tighter, and my top makes no noise. I do lube the weather stripping at least a few times a year.
Here is where I put my e-clip close up.

Honestly I really hated driving my car during its *fits*. Nothing worse then on the way home from a road trip and the top squeaking. Some days I rather have 110 degree heat on the top of my head then listen to the top squeak. Thanks for sharing the video!!!

I tried the dielectric grease on the gasket , the extra orings on the post, and it still squeeked...The one that fixed my problem was to use the E-Clip on the roller wheel, this stopped it, and now no more noise...The E-clip wedges the wheel so the pin doesn't slide back and forth...The pin sliding in the wheel is what causes the squeeks on the earlier models , I believe after 2007 they started using a solid block instead of a wheel....WW

That GM weather strip lube was pricy, but it soaked in well and a little went along way. Read the description and I liked that it won't react with paint.

I put a 3/16 E clip in.... Question? Was it a very tight fit? It went on but the rollers don't seem to roll too well now. I just don't want to crack them.

Besides that it was an easy mod and look foward to putting a few miles on her this weekend

The clip fits in tightly against the roller. It doesn't matter if the roller rolls at all. The e-clip prevents the side to side movement of the roller and the noise.
The newer handles do not have rollers. it is solid.
