Default Interior Lights Question

I Just purchased an 08 Z06 What I have noticed is that when I turn the car off the lights on the mirror stay on for what seems like 5 minutes or more. I have set the dimmer setting to 15 sec but that seems to make no differance. I never noticed this with the other corvette I just trades in for this car.Is this normal or am I missing something ?

They stay on for a little while but not 5 mim.

You might have accidentally pushed the dimmer button. This turns on the interior lights. Try pushing it again and see how long the lights stay on.

This has happened to lots of folks - real easy to do and not realize it.

Note that pressing and releasing that button again will not make the lights on the mirror go out immediately. But they will go out when they're supposed to - start going out after the cabin is vacated and the doors closed and the car locks up, if so programmed.

Just push the button once...it will seem to do nothing, then close the door and wait for the lights to go out.

If you have aftermarket LEDs in it they will stay on at a very low voltage. You will only be able to see it in a dark area. Mine do this.

Glad you got it figured out.

This 'issue' used to get posted almost every week.

And........any and all lights that may have been left on will turn off when the car goes to sleep in about 20 minutes.

The very faint glow of an LED can be eliminated by keeping one of the OEM bulbs connected somewhere in the interior.

I have LED bulbs in my garage door opener and they have a very faint glow even when turned off. Regular incandescent bulbs don't last long presumably due to vibrations, and the curly fluorescent bulbs don't work all that well in the winter.

Amen to that, don't last very long at all but the " appliance bulbs" do last longer than normal bulbs, cost more also

UH............OK, I agree about the garage lights/etc.

What I was referring to was a way to 'trick' the BCM's 12VDC circuit that's powering the interior lights, similar to what you use a load resistor for to cure LED turn signal hyper-flash.

Ultimately if you don't like the LED bulbs, they make regular incandescent bulbs specifically for high vibration places that work very well in garage door openers. These also work well in handheld worklights that get banged around alot. They are called ROUGH SERVICE bulbs.

I have an odd thing also, the fog lights turn on when the car is shut down for about 10 seconds Yes I've studied the manual and have given up figuring it out Some things are better off left alone
