Default Seat back impact sensor

So I am currently looking at purchasing a lemans blue z06 2006. But when I took it for a test drive the airbag light was on. The shop called and said it was the seat back Impact sensor. He also said they won't be fixing it because the part is about 1k each and you have to replace the driver and passenger side when you do it. Should I stay away. The stock seats are going to be taken out for some recaro pole positions in the near future if I purchased it.

If this is a dealer selling this car, I can't believe that they would be allowed under the safety laws to sell a vehicle with an air bag light on.
If you are planning to get aftermarket seats without impact sensors, then the above is a mute point.
You can buy an airbag simulation plug that will complete the SIR circuitry and bypass the faulty sensor (s)

I thought maybe but before I even got that they said the interior was out to fix somthing but I'm not sure. I gotta check the car fax and stuff but I'm thinking maybe since the seats were out they didn't connect it well.

I'm not sure what to do. I mean I could even buy a set of used seats that has the sensor in it. I don't think they realized the airbag light was on until I test drove it. but aftermarket seats are in the future. I'm just concerned that it's not just the seat back impact sensor that is off and there are more issues. It does have a aftermarket steering wheel on it was well.

Just found out the code was B0041. I'm now researching it. Seems common

um..Have the shop remove the steering wheel airbag and have them check that the locking clips (tabs) are installed and down all the way on the air bag connectors. If one or both of those little clips (tabs) are not down or missing, then that will keep the air bag light on as well.
Just a thought.
Just this week a member had an air bag light after changing steering wheels, and lo and behiold, one of those little tabs was not pushed in all the way.
Once he pushed it down, the air bag light cleared.

According to the C6 Corvette trouble codes, B0041 Left Front Side Deployment Loop Open.
That could mean the front impact sensor front left engine compartment as well.
Driver side impact sensor should be B0077
I attached a PDF of C6 trouble codes with explanation.

According to GMPartsdirect,
Driver & Passenger side impact sensors $168.00 per side
The L and R front air bag sensor(s) are $112.00 per side

That shop should be able to figure out which sensor is bad, and there are none that cost $500 each unless it's the air bag itself.

Check the yellow air bag connector under the seat for proper seating or bent pins etc.
Have the connector tie wrapped to keep it tight.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
I personally would run away from this shop that doesn't appear to have a clue.

Yea I'm doing some research as well. Even if they had to replace the SDM it's not 1k each. The car has a clean car fax no accidents at all. Maybe I'll fix it myself and ask for like 5k off the price lol

Yeah, you could try that. It can be fixed after all, even if they won't do it.

Good Luck

I don't see how they could legally sell the car with an air bag malfunction. That's a safety issue. I wouldn't buy it until it was fixed properly (not just a code clearing).
