Has anyone had success adding a backup camera to the factory Bose system? I went to a stereo install shop in the Tampa bay area and it seems like it is something that isn't even attempted They claim there are no adapters available. Suggested buying and installing a go pro install in the rear hatch area and linking to my IPhone. I have a 2013 GS with the premium bose system as I am told. thanks in advance for all suggestions.
There is a company in Florida who built a module to get video in the oem unit but it only fit 2005-2011 model. If you dig on google there is another company who built some that will fit to 2013 but it is as pricey (800$) as a head unit and still have the low definition and the crapy GPS. Doesn't leave you much choices.
There was a lockpick 360 that was available to add a video input to the OEM Nav, but it was troublesome, and are no longer made.
A new company, Navtool now does it, but it is pricey, and the unit has to be sent to them so they can add it. PITA.
I added a monitor to my driver sunvisor, replacing my vanity mirror assembly. It takes patience to do it, and a bit of work but doable.
I removed the vanity assembly, leaving only the wires for power for the homelink. I used the vanity mirror cover, cut an opening in it to fit the monitor very tightly all the way around, and attached it to the sunvisor using clips and tie wraps under the cover to hold the monitor to the sunvisor.
