Trade in C6 for a C7?
I have not been a big fan of the C7. I still can't get used to the rear end and don't care for the looks of the coupe with the big blind spot.
However, I have seen a large drop in prices for 2014 and 2015 vert 2LT cars. These can be had for the low to mid $50s right now. Some of these cars have been on the market for months. Plus, I suspect prices may drop a little more for the 'Base' cars once the GS model comes out in August.
As a value, I am wondering if I should consider trading in my 12 GS 3LT vert with 10k miles for a next gen model? I doubt it will get that much cheaper in the future and the C6 GS models seem to be holding there own in the current market.
Since I really don't mind my GS, I can be extremely picky and definitely hard azz negotiating with the dealers.
Any thoughts?

Do what you want. I don't understand these threads where a person ask strangers on the internet what they should do.

C7 offers a great chance of electrical gremlins. Most people want a Corvette for the raw power. If you're one who can feel the difference of 25 horsepower or actually need that much grunt, then the C7 just might be for you.
We're programmed through advertising and other outside influences to always have the latest and greatest when what we currently have is more than adequate. As jbc1995fb said, it's hard to know what someone else really wants - very subjective.
On the other hand, this isn't a practice life. We all only have one go at it. Do whatever trips your trigger.

summary:
I don't particularly like the C7, I like my current C6, should I buy C7 cause the price seems better then it did this time last year?
sound about right?

I agree...difficult to give advice when you say you are not a fan of the C7 and you also say that you "don't mind" your '12 GS. If it's just a financial decision, it will be less expensive to just keep what you have. To me though, it would be best to go with something that actually excites you and not just something that you don't mind having.

C6 Grand Sport is one of the best looking corvettes ever made. If the ones in my area weren't priced 15K higher than Z51 models, i'd have bought one.

WHAT color is your C6 GS?

Test drive one.
I like the looks of the C7 Vert. I test drove one and it handled great. The only negative was the seat bolsters were too firm. I had a Jag with similar bolsters and it would make my legs/back numb.
If it had been the right color, I might have jumped but decided to keep my C6.

The only reason for even thinking about this was because I found a Laguna Blue vert that I really like. My TR GS is great and I enjoy it. That said, I am approaching the age of 70 and there won't be many other Corvettes in my future.
I was contemplating trading in my car, demanding $43 on the trade and offering $51-52 for their car. I figure 8k difference to come up to the C7 would be about the best I would ever do.
I understand the skepticism, however, I do believe their are other forum members who have given this the same thought at one time or another. As I said, it would be a take it or leave offer. Either way I wouldn't be disappointed.

Personally, I don't mind spending money on what I *want*, but I hate spending money just to spend it.

I just bought a 2013 grand sport about two weeks ago couldn't be happier. I really like the C-6 body lines much better than the C-7 that's why I went that route and I have no regrets. Like everyone else's said you got to do what makes you happy. Good luck with your decision I'm sure you'll make the right one.

Really like the Laguna blue. Someone said you only go around once.

Jaki - get what you want now! You're 70 years old, you've paid your dues and if finance is not a concern do what your heart tells you. I'm like you (except 10 yrs younger) where I just couldn't get to like C7 rear end. I've driven C7 and yes I think it is a better car overall but the looks are just not to my taste. I like flowing body design not angular. So I ordered AMG GTS last December, build start date was 3/9 and it's supposed to be delivered mid April. Do I need this car?, absolutely not, but how many more good years do I have left where I can enjoy a performance car? We're at the tail end of our life and if circumstances allow enjoy whatever that floats your boat! FYI - I'm keeping C6 along with the new toy.

Since you are soliciting opinions from others....personally, I wouldn't. My C6 runs great, no problems with it at all, and it's 100% paid for. Plus, the C7 still doesn't appeal to me. I think the C6 is a better looking vette. You asked for input....

If you really don't like the C7 then I certainly wouldn't buy one.

I've got a 13 GS coupe. I think its a beautiful car. I absolutely love driving it. But I am 100% sure the C7 is improved in every area over my "obsolete" C6. And C7 sales are now already way down, so new and used prices are good.
Unfortunately, I still do not like the looks of any C7. Just can't warm up to it. So have no interest in getting one, even though I know its the better Corvette.
But . . . if I l liked, or could even tolerate, the looks of a C7 I'd probably already have one.
