Default 2007 c6, common issues?

Is the upholstery in the c6 (2006-08) ripping/tearing a common issue?

Also, is it a common issue for the driver side powered seat to go out? In a 2007 corvette I'm looking at getting, the owner said the drivers side seat does not move. Said it makes noise when you try to move it but it will not move. Can't remember in particular what kind of noise he described but he thinks the motor is shot. I'm thinking maybe it's something cheaper like a wiring issue, or the module? Thoughts?

Thanks!

I bought an '07 two years ago, and I've never heard of any of this.

I think the more relevant question is: How many miles are on it?

If it has the memory seat option I'd bet that the power wires to the module are damaged.

Too Many miles with a huge smile on my face!
Worst issue in the whole car.

Seat parts are all over eBay. That might be a minor issue if you buy the car.
My seat switch kind of got jacked when I did the bolster rebuild. It is really stiff now.
But I never need to move it.

I replaced the harmonic balancer on my 2007 more for piece of mind than a real need. Other than that, just a lot of fun and regular maintenance

My 08 seat has been out 4 times to replace the complete frame...'Because the motors can not be replaced'..They are secured to the frame/track.

It's official, I'm picking it up next tuesday! 88,500. Need to sort out the driver seat not moving issue, then he mentioned that about a quarter of the time when he uses his turn signals his hi-beams turn on which im hoping is an easy fix also. The headlights are really oxidized on the inside so I'm really not looking forward to tackling that problem the most. Otherwise the guy complained about the driver door not wanting to open for him a lot of the time lately and i know thats an easy 10 minute job to pull open the door "handles" (sorry I'm unfamiliar with the proper term :p ) and clean off the corrosion and they'll be back to new it seems like mainly just smaller issues and I got a great deal on it so I'm pretty stoked!

The switch on my 07 Seat did the same thing when I replaced the foam.
Had to remove the steel mounting plate and reposition the seat cover.
Works great now.

Per my previous post, it's all about the mileage.

Mine had 23k when I picked it up, has 28k on it now -- zero issues with anything.

Good luck!

Congrats! I've had mine for a couple months and couldn't be happier. Such a blast to drive. It's also fairly economical...I get 26 mpg average on my commute!

Congratulations! You won't (probably) regret the decision. I traded my 2000 C5 A4/Z51 in JAN for a 2007 A6 2LT package with 88.5K miles on it. Unless yours inexplicably blows up or something dreadful like that, you will enjoy every minute of your driving thrills to come. My 07 Carfax indicated mine had been in an accident but a very good look over all exterior components proved that whoever did the repairs did a great job as there was nothing visible. Having learned from others on this forum to be a tad skeptical about vettes with reported accidents, I asked if they could put it on a lift for a visual inspection. They agreed and again - there was nothing noticeable. After purchase I took it to my Chevy vette dealership (well trusted by their handling of work items on my C5) because I wanted all the fluids changed due to the mileage. The Chevy dealer inspected inside the tranny, the rear end, and all other underside components (links, tie rods, shocks, etc. etc.) and told me everything was A-OK other than the infamous oil pan gasket leakage (not dripping, just "wet"). My HB even seems to be rock solid! I just had the gasket replaced because I had the money, but may not have done so if I were in "my home" (currently away from residence) as I have no tools or ability to get under it here and try tightening the pan bolts first. NO OTHER issues with mine and seemingly same age/mileage as yours so as the others have all said - just relax, sit back (or forward - wherever your seat is stuck), hang on and ENJOY the ride!!

Intermittent operation of the memory seat option is a known issue.

A part of the seat frame contacts the upholstery right where you
slide onto the drivers seat so this can start to unravel. I had it
fixed an came up with a way to avoid contacting that area when
sitting down.

Seat upholstery wearing is 100% due to how the person (people) who owned the vehicle were getting in and out of the car - incorrectly, I might add. You have to make a conscious effort to turn sideways and slowly sit into the seat, then swing your legs and feet into the car. When getting out, swing your legs out, put your feet on the ground, put your left hand onto the door sill in the corner where the door sill goes from horizontal to vertical, then push with that arm and stand up. This keeps you from prematurely wearing the cushion and/or back bolsters.

It's an 07 1lt. Not sure if the memory seat is an option for that model. I am not sure if the car has memory seats ot not.

Why did you not include the 05 in this discussion? Is it because the 05 does not have these issues?

05 is not a year I was considering. 06-08 were the only years I was looking at so those were the only years I was really curious about.

Don't let mileage ever scare you away from a purchase. I bought mine with 150,000 and it's an absolute awesome car!!
I have already put over 1000 on it. Darn near a daily driver due to how much I enjoy driving it!!!
