Default Oil Cooler Location

I have been doing some searching this evening on the forum I could not find what I was looking for.

Do 2008 Z51 A6 cars have the engine oil coolers or is it only M6 Z51 cars?

If the 2008 A6 Z51 cars have them, where is the cooler located?

(2008 LS3 Z51 3LT)

TIA

Our 2009 Z51 A6 has a power steering cooler but not the oil cooler.

AFAIK, the 2008 is identical.

People have been known to buy the parts and install the oil cooler that comes with the appropriate year M6, I haven't done that yet.

I have the same vette as yours and there is only the trans cooler, no oil cooler.

I'm "pretty sure" it's only M6 cars.

But, read this thread carefully, lots of good info and pics:

Easy check is to look at your radiator side tanks and you will see the coolant lines.(Passenger side).............

On the 2008-2009 Z51 A6, there will be lines into the radiator tank for the A6 cooler, but the oil cooler (installed only on M6 cars) is a separate cooler installed behind the grill. Easy to spot looking from the front.

That is what I meant! My same vette has the lines on the tank for the A6.

Thanks for all the replies! I will have to raise the hood and do a little more investigation tonight!

From the looks of the above link and statements from Gearhead Jim and Cherokee Nation the A6 have a fluid to fluid cooler (radiator side tank) whereas the M6 have stand alone air to fluid coolers mounted on the radiator...
