Default Navigation System for 2008 3LT

I am new to this site and previously posted in wrong (C7) section. Need advice on swapping existing factory Bose 6 CD system for NAV system. Do not have the NAV system so would need to purchase factory or an aftermarket unit. I understand that Pioneer and Kenwood offer good units but do not know if they are preferred over factory unit. I am located in northern Colorado, are there any commercial shops who do these conversions, or must I DIY? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Pappy,

in general, the factory unit is not good.

Any car stereo shop can install an aftermarket Nav. You'll probably pay $500 - $800 installed, depending on the shop.

A much better (imo) option would be a small garmin or tomtom with free lifetime updates for $100.

if you go the car stereo shop route, make sure you use Yelp or some other type of review service to find a shop that is familiar with vettes.

Cauhauna-
Many thanks for the quick reply. I will next try Yelp to locate any installers in my area, and then proceed from there. Thanks again for the advice.

I have a 08 without Nav and upgraded to a Pioneer AVIC 120 which is a good system. Also Kenwood also makes a great Nav unit for the 08. You should contact Dennis, a forum vendor, at Double D Mods http://www.doubledmods.com/
He has all the latest stuff already but into kits for a DIY. You won't get a better price or service. I installed my own, it looks like a big job but it's not really that hard. Talk to Dennis and also look in the audio section of the forum they have lots of DIY instructions posted there.

Thanks for the information and encouragement. I'll see what I can do about finding a factory Nav unit. I will keep you in mind if I decide to tackle the project myself, I'm sure I can benefit from your experience. Thanks again.

I did the same thing ,lot of people don't like the oem NAV but I love it. If you can find a 2011 or later it will have the usb interface
