Default Strange.Hatch lid pull down problem.

2010 Grand Sport coupe. Have not seen this issue addressed here. When closing the lid, the pull-down mechanism engages then cycles three times and opens the lid. This occurs whether gently pushing the lid closed or dropping it from about 8". The only way I have to latch the lid is to drop it from about 18" or more. Then, if the doors and windows are closed when dropping, the alarm sounds. I have to either open a door or have a window lowered about 8" before dropping the lid to avoid the alarm. Any others experienced this? Any suggestions to eliminate this embarrassing issue? Would thankfully appreciate any replies.

Issues with the pull down latches go back to the 80's Camaro's. My '87 IROC started having issues like that which eventually led to replacing the motor assembly. I believe the solenoid's/relays are where the issues start. Mine finally quit working all together and wouldn't pull down the rear hatch. Keep in mind, this was on a car I bought new and only had 20,200 miles when I sold it 18 years later. If I remember correctly, it was about $500 to replace.
