So I have a bad check valve in my fuel pump. Long start times. Dealer can't locate one with their nation wide locater service. It's been six weeks and they still can't find one. Even the waranty company are trying to locate one. They are saying GM has a problem making enough pumps. They won't use anything but GM original equipment pump from another dealer. They said it could be another six weeks or longer. Really ? Anyone else having this problem
If me, and I needed, or just wanted, my car, I'd buy my own pump and have it installed. Fight with warranty and GM later, for whatever might be recoverable.
Just sayin'. You can be without your car for 3 OR MORE months and held hostage by a warranty company, or take control, buy a pump elsewhere and get on with life.
Here is what the dealership is telling me. GM discontinued the pump for the c6 corvette. WHAT? How can that be. They don't know when or if GM will ever have a pump to ship so my waranty company has said okay to an aftermarket pump. Who makes the best aftermarket pump.

Your situation is not surprising. GM has a bad habit supporting a parts supply with models of cars that are over ten years old. The C6 being introduced in 2005 means they don't care anymore about C6 owners even if the car is not 10 years old yet. You would think they would learn from the competition, but it seems they have their heads buried in the sand. The only good news is it's a good oportunity for the aftermarket to maybe improve on the existing design as this is a typical Vette problem. An AC Delco pump should be o.k.
