Burning Brakes
Was in the same spot a few years ago, teetering between Borla and Corsa.
I have been running the Borla S-Type II on an '09 Convertible (M6) since 2013 and have been very pleased. Great burble at idle, awesome riding around and just enough roar at WOT. My thing was I didn't want a raspy tone or popping (especially on decel) and the Borla is more of a deep, throaty sound.
Nice improvement in volume without being obnoxious and zero drone. It actually is quieter than I though but that is a positive- I was thinking of going with the "touring" version and glad I didn't. The ATAK version is supposed to be louder but I have to give credit that the S-Type seems to be a great balance between Lexus and LOUD. For me, Goldilocks got it right... If you opt for headers in the future, the S-Type II will wake up a little more but still not obnoxious IMHO.
Only negative I can report (due to my OCD) are the tips. They look great but the interior is not "smooth" and polished like the factory tips so polishing them up on the interior is not really possible, at least not like the OEM ones. I now couldn't care less now but it was "different" than what I expected. Just a note FYI...
In the end and having heard a lot of other options, I have ZERO regrets and would go with the Borla again. Not a plug, but ordered from MarylandSpeed and was great...

I'm in the same boat as you. Bought the '08 with Billy Boat exhaust, the bullets I believe, and the drone is obnoxious on trips. Great for around town but monotonous on the highway. My Z51 came with NPP's and that is probably what I'm going back to.

I've been running Corsa Sports for about 6 mos. on my 06 A6 and love them. No drone at all and I like the little popping sounds on decel. Took less than 2 hrs to install myself on a friends lift.

Melting Slicks
imo...neither belongs on a vet. dont cheap out on exhaust. there are many threads on here where members have swapped exhaust more than once. check the classified section for some good deals on a axle back.

Another vote here for the newer Borla S-Type II. Great sound, not TOO loud, and no drone at highway speeds. Even gets better with some age.

I went with the borla s-type but it does drone a bit. I would have to leave it in 5th on the highway or go a bit faster in 6th to stay around 2k rpm. From 1400-1800 is pretty bad drone. Not horrible but a bit annoying.
But I have long tubes and no cats so maybe that's why.

If so, it must be the long tubes and no cats that is causing the drone.
