I found that out the hard way.

Now I have a cashmere and purple interior. One of a kind!

After picking at it little by little and part by part, I finally finished my harmonic dampener replacement. Had a lot of hiccups along the way, but I picked at it a few hours at a time every weekend for the last month and a half. Prior to this, the hardest car project I had ever taken on was replacing a set of drum brakes. No comparison.

I learned a ton and and if I can do it, just about anybody can, but a second pair of hands are... handy at various stages. All said and done, I think I spent about $400 bucks on parts, fluids, and a handful of tools.

One of the best lessons I learned was that AutoZone rents tools for the cost of the tools, but it’s all refunded when you return them. So, it ends up being free. They were a big help on for the torque wrench, and pulley puller and installer tools.

Not "to" my Vette but "for" my Vette.

Quick Jack BL-5000SLX, with motorcycle adapter "for" my Harley!

Jacked up the right front, removed the inner fender liner and replaced the fog light that was knocked loose by the coyote I hit last weekend.

Installed my new yellow center console pad to match the new waterfall and Oracle LED side markers painted in same body color.

Got the front fascia reinforcement installed on my Z06. I had an issue where my front lip on the middle of the front bumper was sagging. I don't regularly exceed speeds of 100 MPH so I figured I wouldn't need a reinforcement. Still sagged.

Everyone, I highly suggest getting the front fascia reinforcement if you're running a ZR1 style splitter. Here is the before/after pic. Much better! Also eliminated all the gaps that I previously had around the grill area, but I believe this was because some of the push pins got dislodged.

What material is your splitter? I've had a ZR1 style fiberglass splitter on my GS for 6 years. No reinforcement and no sag.

Carbon fiber. You're probably safe if its been 6 years. I don't believe it has even been a year yet for me.

Hummm.... I would have thought the C/F would have given you adequate support/stiffness. With abs I could see it happening. BTW, your 'after' looks great!

Thanks! I was getting so aggravated every time I would look at the front end. I would always be reminded of those Mazdas that look like they're smiling at you.

It seems to happen with some people and not others. I spoke with someone who had a GS and a front splitter and no sag. He installed the same splitter on his Z06 when he sold it and it sagged. Luck of the draw I guess.

Was a nice fall day here in the north, hazy, 0% chance of rain, in the 40s, so I took her Wallying and running around doing other shopping. She's probably going into hibernation this coming Thursday, unless the weather forecast changes.

Didn't see any other Vettes, but did see some nice females!

Cleared a p0302 code and tried to narrow down/locate a tick/knock that developed on the way home Thursday before the code was set

Not feeling super motivated to get out there after doing a bunch of reading about ls2 tick/knock noises. Maybe tomorrow. Lifters, valves, cam sensor, rods

Default Dyno

Got my 05 dyno'd today. Just bought it about 6 weeks ago. Power mods include CAI, fast 102 intake, American racing headers (no cats), and borla exhaust (at least that everything it looks like and what the dealer knew it had).

Mustang dyno
70 degrees, 91 octane and at 3,800 ft elevation
baseline run: 444 @6300 and 430 @4670
Best tune : 447 @6000 and 438 @4700

as far as I know there was no tune on the car to begin with given that the check engine light was always on because if the cats. I would think if it had been tuned, they would have fixed that.

seems like crazy baseline numbers. I'm not surprised they couldn't get much more out of it.

I feel your pain. LS2 ticking was the first sign of a lifter problem.

The good news for is now there is an LS3 under the hood of my '05.
