Washed and waxed, shot a few pix and then spent Saturday at the Good Guy Heartland Nationals. Saw some BEAUTIFUL hot rodded C1, C2 and C3 vettes.

I wondered that too Ed, but being old and out-of-touch I just let it go.

Looks very nice. Black wheels would look even better. This is coming from a guy considerably older than you.

Thanks, but I just can't do the black wheels. I don't like how the design definition of the wheels is lost in the black. I am thinking very hard about a bronze set. A real issue that's come up is for Corvettes, the selection of wheel styles is pretty limited. Most are knockoffs of factory designs. I am considering some light pinstriping by the front and rear badge's. Working on some other ideas for this winter, just haven't nailed it all down yet.

That does look nice. If you haven't already, check out the "few pics of my ZR1" thread.
Chrome wheels, in time, rust under the tire and bubbles on the lip break the seal and causes a loss of air. That's what happened to my original factory wheels.

I've had chrome wheels on my cars and bikes for 45 years and I have definitely seen a lack of quality in modern day chroming. Back in the day you used to be able to hit the stuff with a hammer and not faze it. You can't do that today. I've never had powder coated wheels, but I have used it extensively on my bikes and the stuff is about bulletproof.

Black wheels just aren't my thing. It's great some people like them, it's that difference that makes cars, and bikes so damned cool to be around.

Environmental regulations have a lot to do with it. The same with the quality of paint. Especially in California.

I'm not an expert but chrome over steel, like the old days, may be more durable than chrome over aluminum alloy.

I looked to see if the green light was still lit on the battery tender. every time I open the garage door dark clouds roll in and the sky lets go. summertime in Florida.
