Delco Battery Date Code
I will be purchasing a Delco battery in the near future. I want to make sure that it's fresh stock. Is there a date code on it that I have to decipher or just a month and year stamp on it.
Thank you
Thank you

I think there is just a month and year stamped on it and then maybe a digit/letter for the plant code where it was manufactured as well.

I don't know if you have Bennett Auto Supply in PSL but they are a Delco distributor. You will always get a "fresh" battery from them....just checked yes you do. 230 SW Port St Lucie Blvd.
I just looked at the Delco in my Avey and I could not tell by any of the codes or markings a "date code" but I'm sure that there is a way because it says "do not remove this tag or warranty is void".

How about a Delco battery that's already on a car. I bought my 2011 GS in February and don't know if it has the original battery in it or not. Not having any probems, just curious if its the factory battery.

Mine is 7' up in the air so I can't check (sorry) but I do believe that the OEM factory battery is different in appearance and markings than a replacement. FWIW.

They don't make it obvious but there is a code actually stamped into the top of the battery. The code info is here:

Sorry, I should have read it a little, the only important part is:
"How do I read the warranty date code on my battery?
The warranty date code is located on the top label of the battery. The first character is
either a P or S. The
next two digits determine the month, the third digit is year and the
fourth digit indicates the manufacturing plant. For example, P 094N means the battery was made in September 2014"
Cut from the document.

I've gone over the top of mine 4 times and can't find the code...I guess I'm "code less" in FLL. I'm guessing that it's just under one of the labels...

Might be under a label...they definitely don't want to make it easy. I believe that they also stamp it on the side of the battery near the top edge...take a look all the way around.
