Default Rotor question

I have an '07 Vert with the Z51 package. The rotors are drilled and that area is a chrome finish. My question; are these original equipment or aftermarket? Any help is appreciated.

The OEM Z-51 rotors are flat black carbonized finish.

As for rotors, the area that the brake pad makes contact to will strip any finish down to the bare cast metal surface. Depending on the thickness of the rotors, they can be turned if needed.

Since I do have a Z51 option vet, I get about 30K out of the OEM HD pads, turn the rotors, the I'm able to get another 30K out of the rotors until they both they and the OEM pads have to be replaced at the 60K mark.

So the fact that you state the the rotors are chrome plated, either OEM that have been chrome plated, or after market plated rotors isntead. And again, the OEM HD pads are hard on the rotors, so by just looking at the mileage of the vet, easy to figure out just how many sets of OEM pads and OEM rotors have been replaced on the car.

Maybe it varies by year, but my 2009 has gray ones. Could also vary with wheel type; mine are chrome.

I believe the chrome rotors your speaking of are just the pad swept area on the rotor that brings it down to bare metal once the car is driven from new.as others have stated the factory rotor comes in a grey finish that disappears from the pad swept area once you put 2 or 3 miles on them.if yours are chrome they did not come from the factory like that.no factory Z-51 rotor came from the factory with a black finish

Just upgraded my 2008 Base with Z51 set up and GM's are grey, purchased from a GM dealership.

Chrome look=Zinc wash. No manufacturer actually chrome plates their rotors.
