Within seconds the doors lock after I leave the car and close the door. When someone is in the passenger side and I get out and close the door, He/she is locked in the car until I reopen the door. Is there a way to stop this? I found nothing in the manual. The only solution that I have found is that the passenger has to open his door while the driver's doo is open. Thanks
Are you walking away from the car? You can turn off the autolock feature (it's in DIC). If you remain near the car with your fob, can the passenger exit?
If you want, you can turn off 'Passive Door Locking' (aka Autolock) using the DIC.
It's explained in the DIC Vehicle Personalization section of the Owners Manual.
You can also set the car to flash the lights and honk when the car 'auto-locks'.
You can temporarily disable passive locking by pressing the door unlock switch for three seconds on an open door. (this is in the manual too)
I would just turn off the autolock feature and lock the car yourself when you want it that way.
How did people remember to lock their cars for the 50 years before the auto-locking feature came out? Is this really a problem? Are there lots of unlocked Corvettes just sitting around in parking lots?
The theft-deterrent system does not arm if the driver
door is locked with the power door lock switch after the
doors are closed.
If the keyless access transmitter is removed from the
vehicle while a passenger is in it, have them lock the
doors after they are closed. The alarm will not arm, so
the passenger will not set it off.
Turn off the auto-locking option, then proceed as above.
