Difference between different GM lubricants
I noticed that GM recommends one lubricant for hinges, one for latches and dielectric grease for weatherstripping.
I needed to take my '06 in for an unrelated repair and saw a service special for lubricating all the hinges, latches and weatherstripping. Since I don't have all the recommended lubes and am recovering from an injury, it seemed like a convenient way to get it done. The tech noted that he used silicone on all the areas.
Is there a significant difference between the three products? If the tech used silicone everywhere, he didn't use the factory recommended products.
