I currently have an LS3 with ECS 2200, small blower cam, American Racing long tubes w/ high flow cats, and Corsa Sports. The exhaust isn't loud enough for my tastes (and I want 4" tips), especially when cruising. I'm debating between keeping the cats and picking up B&B Bullets or removing the cats and going with Corsa Xtremes. Anybody with either of those care to chime in?
PS, I've had a cammed S197 with no cats and an 04 Cobra with no cats, so noise is no stranger to me)
I have the bullets with 1 3/4 slp headers, cats, my car is an A6, when it the low gears you drive in a bubble of low note sound, cant wait to have a cam done to check how it sounds. Once I get into cruising gears is actually not that bad, you can move pretty easily in and out of the drone zone
I have owned both and installed on aggressively cammed LSs. Two completely different experiences.
Extreme is LOUD under throttle and has a "European" note - more of an exotic car sound.
Bullets are LOUD all the time - period. Sound is American muscle, but with the Vette firing order muffle.
Really depends on what sound you want and how much drone you can tolerate. Extreme has essentially zero drone. Bullets have controllable drone via gear selection and throttle input.
I have the Bullets. There is drone but my radio volume is pretty high so the drone is not bad. The American muscle car sounds are awesome. It sounds like a Vette is supposed to sound like.
I have an ls3 with a v3si, 1 7/8 catless long tubes and corsa extreme (A6 car). I think the exhaust is perfect for me.
It is insanely loud at WOT (hard to stand anywhere behind the car on the dyno without plugging your ears), but isn't too bad inside.
As far as normal driving, it's perfect. The exhaust quiets down a ton driving around normally at low engine loads. It's noticeable on the highway, but far from irritation levels in my opinion. If you have the radio up or the windows down, I don't even really hear it on the highway. In the city, it just depends how briskly you accelerate and how far you run each gear out. You can drive it super quiet or you can have it make some noise if you wind the gears out a bit more. It's definitely very livable though.
Once you get into it a bit on the highway (say giving it extra gas in 6th to casually get around someone), I do get a bit of annoying drone, but it's not like you would ever be at that throttle position for long (or you'd be way over the speed limit anyways).
