My car had them when I got it. I'd say they are self adhesive and you place them where you want them. I know there's no cutout or indention in the sill because the ones on mine are not in exactly the same spot on each side, but close enough.

As for removal, I highly recommend using 3M Adhesive Remover. I got it from a body shop years ago and have used it ever since. Let it work and the adhesive will break down with no damage to the paint.

Hope this helps.

I marked the position of the old ones with tape before I removed them. It think I used goo gone to get the residue off but it wasn't too difficult.

Goo Gone is what I used, as well. I let it set for 10-15 minutes, and then used a nylon bristle brush. Almost all of it came off, but what was left did not hurt at all. You mainly have to make sure that you get most of it off, around the edges. After wiping, I cleaned the sill well, with a spray cleaner, and let dry, then just applied the new sill plate.

You may also want to use fishing line to help cut through the glue that has not dissolved away from the cleaner.

I have done several and it is real easy if you take your time.

1. Measure where the OEM sill plate sticker is located. Mark with blue tape.
2. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen the adhesive.
3. Start at one end and peal the OEM sill plate sticker off, re-heat as you go if needed.
4. Use an adhesive remover to clean the area.
5. Test Position the new sill plate sticker and mark accordingly.
6. Install the new sill plate sticker.
7. You are done.

I did the same. Only extra step I did was used rubbing alcohol before applying the new plate to make sure extra prepped.

Default new sillls in place

Thanks for the info guys got the new sills installed last weekend.
My old 1's were a piece of vinyl with adhesive on every bit of the under side. Would up taking about 2.5 hours to get all the glue off and the new sills put down.

Would up using 3M adhesive remover some WD40 and then rubbing alcohol to clean up after the glue was gone.
I had tried some goo gone also but it didn't help much if at all so don't waste your time trying it.

Didn't use the fishing line under it because once u got a corner up it just peeled off in one piece. Then it was just cleaning up the adhesive mess.

The new plate is much nicer looking than that old 1 because some of the adhesive had leaked out and messed up the silll.

Here's the new 1's and the old 1's . What do you all think?
