"It is common for the fuel level sensor in the fuel tank read the fuel level incorrectly. The sensor must be replaced to correct the condition. Our technicians recommend having the complete fuel pump module replaced on high mileage vehicles."
From a brief search, this appears to be a common problem. Lots of previous topics here in CF.
Kind of a bummer, since you've only had the car for two weeks. Do you love it?

It can take a few trips to allow the system to self-test and reset. Drive for a few days and it should clear itself. If not, consider replacing the gas cap - cheap possible fix.
I believe that is the light that would not go off that caused the $1300 charge at my dealer. The insurance paid; the passenger side wheel and gas tank had to be removed to install the new sensor. Odometer at that point--28,000 miles.

I understand how this message could be frustrating, Commishnyse. I see you’ve been receiving some advice from other forum users, but if you would like an additional layer of support, I’d be happy to help schedule an appointment with your dealership if you’re interested in having them take a look.
