Headlight laminate flaking/chipping off...

I have a 2012 C6 with what seems like laminate flaking off of both headlights. It was initially only a nasty pinky-sized area on the passenger side light, but now it's starting the magic on the driver's side.
I've done a good bit of research on the matter and it seems that there's some sort of protective "clear coat" on these lenses? Any recommendations as to what I can do to keep this flaking from getting worse? When I brought it up to the dealership, they recommended having their 'headlight restoration guy' do the sanding/buffing thing - which I don't agree with. Any suggestions? I *do* live probably 10 miles east of RLSebring! But, I was hoping to go a less drastic (and cheaper) route for now.

Thanks for any and all help! Pics below:

Heres what they will look like once all the flaking is done. Buffing wont do a thing. u will need to wet sand. It is a lot of work but you can get it back clear. But honestly you will be better off replacing the lens
