Default Lower shift box removal

Does anyone know if the lower shift box is removable WITH the shifter still installed? One of the screws is stripped so I can't remove it... I'll just pull the whole sucker out and put an MGW with new box in if I can..
Thanks

Should be able to, just remove the 2 bolts on the right side that hold it to the torque tube. Unfortunately, you still need to get the shifter off because you need a part from inside the shifter assembly to re-use for the MGW.

Anyone have issues with removing these six lobe bolts? Mine are so torqued that I can't get them to move even with power tools...possible stripping as well.

I think I had to hit mine with a rubber hammer after spraying them with some WD-30 to brake them loose.

Sorry - I can't help you there. I had no problem getting mine in and working great. I didn't even have an alignment tool.

That was it. Somehow had the car in gear. Next issue I ran in to was one of those six lobes not wanting to seat. Not sure if I have stripping or what. Shifter on but one of those three screws isn't all the way down so I hit the pause button and look forward to someone who knows wtf they are doing to fix that issue and re-assemble the console. I was a bit out of patience earlier this afternoon. Thanks for the help guys.

I assume that you didn't tighten up the ones that you did get started.

I would loosen or even take out all of the others and see if you can get the one that you are having trouble with started. Then just get all of them started before tightening any of them.

Yea I did that three or four times and even tried different screws in different holes. Not sure what the hell the problem is. Thought this would be the easy part!

So that one screw, it won't start catching at all or it does and then gets really tight?

Did you try some WD-40 on the screw and hole?

Don't know what else to suggest.

I did try Wd40 but perhaps not enough.

I would say it drove 30%, and then was catching up. Same place every time. I have the shifter assembled on and it's tight, but the top screw/bolt for the lower box assembly is raised and I couldn't reassemble the console and everything know it wasn't fully driven. I lack patience when things aren't going to plan and I'm sure someone mechanically inclined with a bit more patience will fix the issue far easier than me.
