Dash cam security

After having my car keyed this morning , I'm looking into dash cams for security when parked?
Anyone use a dash cam for security? Are they worth it? Any recomendations?

Blackvue DR650GW-1CH go to blackvue.com and take a look. I like mine..Small, mounts easy, has park mode to watch when parked..can view thru cell phone.

It may give you piece of mind, but in the end, you'll really only be viewing the awful act. The chance of catching the scum bags that do this kind of stuff is low.

In for answers.

In regards to security....what about door dings, keying, slicing a Vert top (side views)?

I can see how a Blackvue would work to show driver's front vision and perhaps rear vision yet I don't see any option for someone/ thing next to you.

Seems that capturing the act and/ or a vehicle license plate are the key to catching or reducing insurance costs.
