Locking Lugs
Anyone using any locking lug nuts, and if so what type, where did you get them and how many on each wheel, just one? Any issues you find with what you have seen or currently use? Thanks
^^^ What he said. I ran the GM lock, one per wheel when I had the stock wheels. I have Gorilla lug nuts on my new wheels. I think that wheel lock key is at every tire shop around.
If a thief wants it, he'll get it.
I have GM wheel locks. It is produced by Mcgard . I have had these as well as gorilla locks on my other cars. They can be removed by a professional thief in 1-2 minutes. It will slow it down for others as mentioned in the above posts
Years ago (about 25 actually-lol) I had Gorilla Lock build a set of 20 locking lugs that all used the same "key". Wasn't a great deal of money and was a different lock type than what comes in most pre-packaged kits.
Had GM locks, Gorilla and McGuard - -all fine but I also assume that every good car thief either has the key or knows how to break it. I took them off- if somebody wants to steal my wheels it means I get new ones.
Gorilla Automotive (71631X) 12mm x 1.50 Thread Size Acorn Chrome X2 Wheel Lock, (Pack of 4) Amazon $23.28
Gorilla Automotive 61631 Acorn Gorilla Guard Locks (12mm x 1.50 Thread Size) - Pack of 4 Amazon $19.10
One of each on all four wheels.
This is the best type for the money. It has a collar around the outside that rotates. That keeps someone from hammering a socket on it and spinning the nut off that way.
