I'm taking my '07 convertible out for my first road trip with my oldest daughter. Any advice on what to expect? Going from NC to Ohio for a week. Will take out time getting there and will stop frequently. What about attention from law enforcement? Will I be a target because of the car or is it no different than driving anything else. I'm not a racer, I drive the speed limit and am a defensive driver.

I wouldn't worry about the Law if you're not going to speed. You won't be a target just because you're in a Vette unless you're driving aggressively! My advice is plan you're route and know where the attractions are along the way. Take your time and enjoy!
I agree with all the above, you are less of interest than the average Mustang driver, unless you do something pretty radical to draw attention to yourself.
Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to this first trip. Plan on stopping at a couple of weekend car drive-ins, show off my new wheels and ask other owners some questions.
I've taken many road trips over my 2.5 years of ownership (longest was 1000 miles and a week long). I've never had any issues of any kind. Sounds like a blast--have fun!
In June I left home in Indiana for the Tail of the Dragon, Cherahola ect,a 1400 mile trip. Like you I don't speed much ( you kinda have to just to keep up with traffic) and didn't attract any LEO's. What I did find though was a lot as admiration for the car( a C6)-people approached at motels, gas stations , resturants.....it was great. So go and have a great trip!

Next week we are driving from Sioux Falls out to Spearfish for the Black Hill corvette Classic
2 months ago I went from San Diego to Cincy (2280 miles) in my ZR1. I added 50% to the mileage I had on her by the end of the trip. As I thought about it...I put some soul into the car. Took 15 to 40, etc. Most of I-40 west of Missouri is in really in poor shape. And you feel that in a Vette. Yeah I worried. torch Red Vette with CA plates on it=target. I kept my eye on a few things:
a) Hidden LI, overhead aircraft and what is on the other side of that hill you're about to climb...i.e slow it down. Simple...just use cruise control.
b) The readings from the TPMS to make sure those giant Michelins were inflated properly.
c) Oil temp.
Didn't skip a beat and everything operated without any problems.
I also made sure I had long distance AAA towing in case. Brought simple tools, flares and emergency flasher unit. Covered up at night after nightly dust off. I also used an old school bra (was not concerned about looks vs protection) and did the Expel wrap on the typical areas that can pick up bad objects...mirrors, rear fenders, behind each tire in the wheel wells.
Had a blast with not one drop of rain the entire way.
Have fun. I have a daughter as well and that sounds great.

be prepared to answer questions about your car, and there will be little 8 y/o's who will tell you that "is a beautiful car, sir"!
For maximum enjoyment, avoid interstates and see the country and the people. I'll be headed to Ohio soon myself and have already planned out the routes to drive less than 100 interstate miles on a 5,500 mile trip.
Both you and your daughter should enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

I'd forget all about this if I were you!! That car puts a target on your back. That's for sure. The cops will probably have both of you in cuffs before you leave the driveway. I'd forget about the whole thing if I were you two.

I don't think the car will raise any special attention from LEO's. I've driven the routes from NC to Ohio several times, and I suggest be very attentive to your speed if you select I-81., particularly the several areas where the posted speed limits change.
Beautiful scenery up that way. Enjoy the time with your daughter.
