hold your fob up by the steering wheel and shake it. I had to do that in My 05 and my 08's a few times.Also,if you let it sit a while (few minutes) it should reset and start.
If by some miracle you still have the original battery then yes,change it out.Having owned an 05 for 2 1/2 years,I never had to replace the battery when this happened.Remember,that was the first year of the c6 and the new electronics.Lots of little quirky things went with it in the 05 c6.This is one of them.
Hold down the bottom of the start button for 10 seconds and check your batt voltage...If you don't have a volt meter...You are one of a few that a batt lasted 4 years.

Never had one last even 3 yrs. 2 is average for me.
