It displays that message when the car is turned off, and it cannot detect a fob inside the car.
It's the Corvette giving you one last chance to re-start the car and drive to wherever you left the fob.
Example: you start the car at home, but before you drive away, you get out of the car to get your briefcase, and in the process, accidentally leave your keyfob on the table. You jump back in and drive to work, WITHOUT your fob (the C6 doesn't need the fob to keep running, no does it ever look for it while the engine is on/running). When you shut down, the Corvette doesn't see any fob in the car, and gives you the option to restart the car without the fob, go home and get the keyfob.
Two options:
OFF -- pressing 'off' again shuts down the car. You won't be able to start it again without the fob.
RUN -- pressing 'run' restarts the car, and you can drive, presumably to where you left your fob.
Turned off my 07 and heard a ding sound and the message said no fob turn off or run? The engine was already off. Does anyone know what that means?
I've had it do that if the fob in my pocket is behind (skin side) my cell phone. Take the fob out of your pocket and it should be ok. If not, put the fob in the slot in the glove box and see if that fixes it. If so, you need a new fob battery.
Thanks for the quick response. The engine was already off so I pushed the off button again and the message went away. I opened the door, closed it again and got three horn sounds. Pushed start and the car started back up. Turned it off no message and got out.
NO FOB - OFF OR RUN?
This message displays when the keyless access
transmitter is not detected inside the vehicle while
you are trying to turn the ignition off. Your vehicle
may be near a strong radio antenna signal causing
the keyless access system to be jammed. The
vehicle will remain in Acc. until OFF or START has
been pressed or five minutes has expired. If you
turn the ignition off and you cannot find the keyless
access transmitter, you will not be able to restart
the vehicle. The keyless access transmitter needs
to be inside of the vehicle in order for the vehicle to
start. See Starting the Engine on page 91 for more
information.
