Hi Folks, Decided to paint the calipers instead of Powder Coating. I'm going with G2, matching the car color, Magnetic Red Metallic Tri Coat. I want to paint the raised CORVETTE lettering on the front black. I don't want to pay $30 to paint 16 letters. Any suggestions? Thanks
I used the G2 kit to paint the calipers on the base car that I used to have. They came out great. I used paint thinner and an old piece of t-shirt to wipe the paint off of the letters.
I used a rag and paint thinner to remove paint off the letters, but emery cloth works fine too. The oem look with machine faced letters looks good. Nice pics above showing the different looks of the bracket being painted and not. I painted them to give the stock Z51 brakes a larger look. Just a preference.

Thanks for the info, but I'm leaning toward painting the letters black. I think it's different, I haven't seen that look yet.
I still have the stock aluminum color calipers, been planning on powdercoating for years but not there yet. I took a new Sharpie and colored the letters, they stand out from the caliper and if the ink fades I just touch it up with the Sharpie...a poor man's custom paint job!
Is the paint G2? The finish looks really good. Did you paint while on the car or remove them?
Thanks and I agree. Yes to the G2. Painted them in place. Should buy a cheap set of various sized "artist brushes" because the one with G2 is too crude.

If your asking if you need special high temp paint, the answer is no. Just get black touch up paint that has a brush and not the pen type.
This is what I did. Spent less than $10 for a touch up tube form Pep Boys that has a brush built into the cap. did it free hand and it looked great. If your worried about getting paint on the caliper when you do the lettering, you can put a thin layer of chapstick or vasoline on it with a q tip.

Thanks Joey, Can you PM me a picture? With my color car I think it will look really good Thanks Again
Just don't make the mistake I did and mix the G2 in a plastic solo cup. I thought I was being clever and would only use half the paint and reactor and save some for touch ups. The paint ate right through the bottom of the cup...what a mess!
My brakes did come out great though. I did the caliper bracket in silver metallic, didn't want to over do it with the red.
I purchased a couple sizes of artist brushes and was careful when painting around the letters. Used a dremel tool with a steel brush wheel attachment to clean up the lettering when the paint dried. the G2 paint is great !
