Just checked the dealer for brake pad prices, learned all about the Corvette tax. They quoted $200 for the front, $200 for the rear. I know gold nuggets offer superior stopping power, but there has to be a better way.
Any recommendations for a pads? My base C6 is a daily driver, but occasionally driven pretty aggressively on mountain and desert roads.

Amazon sells the OEM pads for $105 (F) and $92 (R), for what that's worth.
I just put on Hawk HPS Street ($100) on the front and Carquest Wearever Platinum ($40) on the rear. They're working out great so far. The Hawks are much better than OEM. I can't really tell any difference in the rear...
Go down to your local auto store and buy some pads. I bought OE semi metallic paddlets for my GS. You don't need anything special. Get ceramic if you want less dust and less braking power.
I ended up going with Duralast Gold ceramics from AutoZone. Lifetime warranty, quiet, perform well and low dust! Also they have a stainless backing plate/shim that looks great!

There are so many options for brake pads. What kind of money are you thinking that you want to spend?
Powerstops check some of the threads in the C7 section. We put them on our C7 Z. Hardly any dust and can't tell any difference in braking power we love ours. Our neighbor who has a 2010 Grand Sport was so impressed by ours he bought a set and we helped him install them and he feels the same way, cost was 150.00 for the GS from Jegs.

I have used Duralast Golds on a number of other cars. These are great ceramic pads. Haven't tried them on a Vette, but would certainly consider it. Especially on a DD.
I have been through the OEM Z51 pads on my 2008 and then bought some cheaper "ceramic" pads all 4 corners called Prostop Platinum Ceramic from Western Auto I think. They immediately remedied the awful metal on rotor squeak but they were never really impressive to me from either a dust or performance perspective. Life of the pad was pathetic and a few times experienced some fade on heavy braking. ABS system never liked them either as such. Changed to new Z51 rotors with Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads all 4 corners and damn they are fantastic. While they might not have the sinister initial Z51 pad bite it is way beyond adequate with very predictable modulation of brake feel every time...and NEVER a squeak...ever.

Got'em right after discovering I hated "brake dust", no problemos, stops just like it used to so I'm happy and so is my wallet

I put Hawk ceramic on my 2013 GS front wheels as I got tired of brake dust, it did cost about $200.00 for the fronts, now rear wheels get much dirtier than the fronts, getting ready to do the same to the rear. Worth every penny in my opinion.
I'm just fine with the oem Z51 (J55) pads. A little more expensive than the standard oem pad, but they have good initial bite and can take some heat. Yes, they create some dust, but with matte black wheels it doesn't bother me.
As mentioned above, amazon has some good pricing on oem pads and rotors.

I also like (prefer) Duralast Gold batteries and have them in my Corvette, two Jaguars and Jeep. They have a very good prorate plan.
Obviously, Duralast does not manufacture brake pads and batteries, or dozens of other products. Instead it is a rebrand. Often, in these cases, well known manufacturers sell their products to rebrand names like Duralast. I thought I heard that Hawk produces the Duralast pad, but just hearsay.
Akebono Ceramics. Buy online at advance auto parts and use the 40% off online codes and then go pick them up from the store in 30 minutes. Swap them out, no more brake dust. Case closed.
